Enzo Maresca has been a revelation for Leicester City. As a result, large clubs seeking their own revolutions have expressed substantial interest. Will the Italian be at the King Power next year if a team makes a bid for him?
The quick answer is: ideally, yeah. Unless the Foxes fail to get promotion, I see little reason why either the manager or the club would be interested in an instant change in club hierarchy. After all, the horrible conclusion to Brendan Rodgers’ long and successful time with the club last season, as well as Dean Smith’s brief interim position, demonstrate that there is little demand for change.
That said, an EFL Championship team with an unhappy and split fans may be a less appealing proposition for a manager wanting to advance his career. Or maybe it’s the ideal chance to show yourself. So let’s see if the manager has proven himself thus far, or if Leicester would be wise to cash in on a move for the head coach.
Leicester City’s Italian manager’s record
43 games played, 91 points gained, and only two points separate the Championship leaders. Maresca’s men have scored more, generated more, and collected more points than any other side, with a positive 42 goal differential and an estimated goal per 90 of 1.82. This sounds quite encouraging.
However, not everything is as cheerful. In their last 12 Championship games, the Foxes have only won five, drawn one (16 points), and conceded six, five of which were by a single goal. I have two concerns, both of which relate to the head coach.
