Milan’s search for a new coach seems to be narrowing down to Julen Lopetegui and Paulo Fonseca, as they part ways with Stefano Pioli. However, it’s still early, and other options, possibly endorsed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, could emerge, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The club is looking for a coach with ambition, who is willing to nurture young talent and collaborate closely with management, preferably without demanding exorbitant salaries. Among the candidates, Lopetegui stands out as particularly intriguing, being currently available.
Milan’s owner, Gerry Cardinale, has already had a promising meeting with Lopetegui and may have engaged with Fonseca as well. Financial considerations are not a barrier, and it’s believed that Lopetegui would wait for Milan’s decision despite interest from West Ham. Fonseca, managing Lille currently, had a decent stint with Roma but isn’t a clear frontrunner.
Additionally, Milan has shown interest in Christophe Galtier and Marcelo Gallardo, although they are currently contracted elsewhere, making their availability a challenge.
The exclusion of Antonio Conte from consideration is notable due to his high cost and demanding nature. Thiago Motta is another Serie A option, but Juventus seems to be leading the race for him, and there’s a possibility he remains at Bologna.
