In April, the Miami Dolphins made significant investments in undrafted rookie signings, notably securing the services of Bayron Matos, a former college basketball player who had never played football competitively. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network broke the news on April 27th.
Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 NFL provided updates on Matos’ contract details on April 28th, revealing a substantial signing bonus and salary guarantees, totaling $247,500, which is uncommonly high for an undrafted player. Matos, a 6-foot-7 offensive lineman from South Florida, received attention from numerous NFL teams before the draft, including the Dolphins, due to his standout performance at the NFL Draft Combine and private workouts.
Despite not being drafted, Matos showcased impressive athleticism at the South Florida pro day on March 20th, displaying speed, strength, and agility, prompting interest from NFL scouts and coaches who saw potential in his abilities.
