Miami Football is poised to secure additional transfer commitments in the coming days, as previously projected by Canes Warning. According to Manny Navarro of The Athletic, Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman and Marshall cornerback Dyoni Hill are expected to pledge their commitments to Miami soon.
These commitments would follow the recent addition of Oregon State running back Damien Martinez, which elevated Miami’s transfer class to 18th overall. With Martinez included, Miami has secured 10 incoming transfers, with four on offense and six on defense. Both Martinez and Miami quarterback Cam Ward are viewed as impactful players, while the other additions are aimed at bolstering depth.
- Martinez, who visited Miami along with Alderman, Hill, and other transfer targets over the weekend, is projected to be the starting running back for Miami in 2024. This is especially significant as Mark Fletcher, the previously projected starting running back for Miami, may not be available at the start of the season due to a Lisfranc foot injury. Standing at 6’0 and 232 pounds, Martinez brings a combination of power and speed to the backfield.
Alderman, who enjoyed a breakout season with Louisville in 2023 under the guidance of Miami LB coach Derek Nicholson, is anticipated to join Wesley Bissainthe and Francisco Mauigoa as a starting linebacker for Miami. On the other hand, Hill is expected to provide depth at cornerback, with Darryl Porter Jr. and Damari Brown entrenched as the starting corners. Washington transfer Mishael Powell, who primarily played slot cornerback during spring practice, also factors into the secondary equation. Hill, boasting a Pro Football Focus grade of 72.5, brings solid tackling and coverage skills to the table.
