Patrick Dangerfield was initially drafted by the Adelaide Crows before transferring to Geelong prior to the 2016 season. Reports suggest that Adelaide has approached former Crows standout Patrick Dangerfield about the possibility of returning to his original club to conclude his career. Despite being originally drafted to South Australia with Pick 10 in the 2007 National Draft, Dangerfield, who hails from Moggs Creek in Victoria, spent the first eight years of his career with Adelaide before joining Geelong at the conclusion of the 2015 season.
Adelaide’s interest in the 34-year-old, as disclosed by Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary, comes as a surprise, with the club seeing Dangerfield’s age and experience as valuable assets for their young squad. However, the likelihood of Dangerfield switching teams again seems low, given ongoing talks of contract extension with Geelong. Despite being a free agent, any move back to Adelaide would require careful consideration on his part. Currently recuperating from his second hamstring injury of the season, Dangerfield aims to return after Geelong’s Round 14 bye.
Since his move to Geelong, Dangerfield has amassed numerous accolades, including five additional All-Australian selections (2016-2020), three Carji Greeves medals (2016, 2017, 2019), a Brownlow Medal (2016), and a premiership in 2022. He currently serves as the captain of Geelong, succeeding Joel Selwood.
