KSW UPDATES: A promising superstar player just got committed to Kansas State

After missing out on some major transfer opportunities, Coach Tang and his team made a comeback in the transfer market by securing the commitment of the veteran, a 6’4”, 210-pound transfer from Cal State Fullerton. Ranked as the 71st best shooting guard and 365th best overall player in the transfer portal, the star brings valuable experience and sharpshooting skills to the Wildcats.

Beginning his college basketball journey at the Division 2 University of Tampa, Jones, originally from Clearwater, Florida, was lightly recruited. Despite this, he made a significant impact, averaging impressive stats of 22.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in his two seasons there, earning him the title of Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year.

Transitioning to Division 1, Jones joined Cal State Fullerton via the transfer portal and immediately made waves. Starting 32 games for the Titans, he averaged 12.5 points, 2.2 assists, and 4 rebounds per game, earning Honorable Mention All-Big West recognition. His three-point shooting prowess, hitting 39% from beyond the arc, was particularly notable, as was his ability to draw fouls and convert at the free-throw line.

Last season, Jones emerged as the primary scorer for Fullerton, showcasing his versatility and offensive prowess. Adept at both shooting from deep and driving to the rim, he posed a constant threat to defenses. His well-rounded game also extended to the defensive end, where he led the Big West in steal percentage.

In terms of what he brings to Kansas State, Jones offers a physical presence on the wing with a reliable outside shot. His offensive versatility makes him a challenge for defenders, whether he’s driving to the basket or spotting up for a three-pointer. While his adjustment to playing at a higher level of competition may take some time, his experience and skills should make him a valuable asset to the Wildcats.

However, there may be some challenges ahead, including adapting to a new team dynamic and not always being the focal point of the offense, as he was at Fullerton. Nevertheless, Jones’ track record suggests that he has the potential to thrive in the high-major level of play.

Overall, Jones’ addition to Kansas State’s roster is seen as a promising move, bringing depth and talent to the team. Alongside other transfer acquisitions, he has the opportunity to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
