AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State head tennis coach, Jaron Maestas, has revealed the signing of Julia Camblor from Spain.
Maestas expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Julia’s addition to this year’s class is highly promising. Her vibrant energy and positive demeanor will undoubtedly make an immediate impact on the program.”
Hailing from Gijon in the Asturias province, Camblor boasts an impressive 9.11 universal tennis rating (UTR), with notable achievements including a WTA high of 1,299 and an ITF women’s high of 458. Set to begin her freshman year in the fall, Camblor is eager to embark on this new journey.
“I’m thrilled to join this new family at Iowa State and commence my studies there,” said Camblor. “I’m looking forward to being a part of it and am grateful to the coaches for this opportunity.”
Camblor joins a diverse newcomer class, alongside Suzanie Pretorius from Potchefstroom, South Africa, Cristina Ramos Sierra from Madrid, Spain, and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar from Alcala De Henares, Spain.
