The star, previously with the Bears, has found a new team in the New Orleans Saints, as announced on Monday with a one-year contract. Originally signed by the Bears in 2022 with hopes of solidifying their offensive line at center, Patrick’s tenure with the team didn’t meet expectations. Hindered by injuries early on, he transitioned to guard in 2022 but struggled, eventually returning to center in 2023 where his performance improved but fell short of securing a new contract under GM Ryan Poles.
Patrick entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent for the Packers in 2016, amassing 96 regular-season games and 54 starts across the interior during his seven-year career. Additionally, he started three postseason games for the Packers at right guard.
The Bears are now looking to the future with two new options at center: Ryan Bates is favored to secure the starting role, with Coleman Shelton also in contention. Doug Kramer, although on the roster, is anticipated to serve as a backup.
