The former basketball star from UNC played for the Nets, who were based in New Jersey at the time, from 2004 to 2009. During his time in East Rutherford, Carter participated in three All-Star games and contributed to the Nets reaching the playoffs three times.
Over his 22-year career, Carter played for eight different teams, but he’s most famously associated with the Toronto Raptors. However, if you were to connect him with another organization, it would undoubtedly be the New Jersey Nets.
The Nets organization has retired the jerseys of seven players, including Carter’s former teammate Jason Kidd. Carter’s No. 15 will be the eighth jersey to be honored at the Barclays Center, commemorating his illustrious career in Nets history.
In 2024, Vince Carter will be celebrated with the retirement of his jersey by the Brooklyn Nets and his induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, solidifying his legacy among the basketball greats.
Further details about Carter’s jersey retirement ceremony are expected to be announced closer to the start of the 2024-2025 NBA season.
