Commitment: One of their key star player has Departed to Kansas state

Bill Self and Kansas basketball have seen significant success in the transfer portal this offseason, with AJ Storr, Rylan Griffen, and Zeke Mayo joining the team and elevating the Jayhawks as top contenders for the upcoming season.

Despite already bolstering their roster, Kansas may not be finished recruiting yet. Reports, including from The Kansas City Star, have linked BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson to the team. Star center Hunter Dickinson recently took to social media to actively recruit Robinson after the latter showed interest by following Griffen and Mayo on Instagram.

In his recruitment efforts, Dickinson shared a photo with the caption “Jayhawk,” hinting at Robinson potentially joining the team. Although Robinson is currently exploring NBA Draft possibilities, he entered the transfer portal following the departure of BYU’s former head coach Mark Pope for Kentucky. Initially considered a frontrunner for Kentucky, recent developments suggest Kansas has emerged as a strong contender for Robinson’s talents.

Robinson, a 6-foot-7 guard who previously played for Texas A&M and Arkansas, was a key player for BYU in the past two seasons, averaging a career-high 14.2 points per game and displaying sharpshooting skills from beyond the arc. As a graduate transfer, he offers valuable experience and scoring ability to any team he joins.

Dickinson’s recruitment efforts indicate Kansas’ interest in adding Robinson to their already impressive roster, which includes Griffen, Storr, and Mayo. If Robinson chooses not to pursue the NBA, Kansas appears to be in a favorable position to secure his commitment. He has until May 29 to make his decision, with options including staying in the draft, following his former coach to Kentucky, or joining Kansas under Coach Self to further develop his skills and enhance his draft stock.
