Dai Dai Ames, previously with Kansas State, has made the move to join the Virginia Cavaliers, as confirmed by Wahoos247 following ESPN’s Jeff Borzello’s report. Ames, a 6-foot-1 guard, completed an official visit to Virginia last week before committing.
During his freshman year at Kansas State, he played in 31 games, starting in 16, and maintained averages of 5.2 points and 2.0 assists per game, with a 32.9% success rate from three-point range on 2.3 attempts per game, while logging around 20 minutes per game. His performance notably improved towards the end of the season, particularly in the NIT game against Iowa where he scored a season-high 16 points and provided five assists, showcasing his potential.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Ames’ commitment fills the last available scholarship spot for Tony Bennett’s team. Virginia has been active in the transfer market, securing three players, including TJ Power and Jalen Warley, who were previously ranked in the Top-100. The 2024-25 UVA men’s basketball roster now features Jalen Warley, Christian Bliss, and Ames in the guard position.
On the wings, the Cavaliers will rely on Isaac McKneely, Andrew Rohde, Taine Murray, Ishan Sharma, and Elijah Gertrude, while TJ Power, Elijah Saunders, Jacob Cofie, Anthony Robinson, and Buchanan will take up the forward positions, with preferred walk-on Carter Lang rounding out the roster.
