Breaking: Syracuse lands a commitment of 4-star edge Pro. to bolster their corps of players

During the off-season, Coach Fran Brown and the Syracuse football coaching staff have assembled an impressive 2024 recruiting class, drawing talent from high school prospects as well as the transfer portal.

Their efforts in the transfer portal have secured several skilled college transfers, with quarterback Kyle McCord from Ohio State gaining considerable attention. However, numerous other transfers are anticipated to make significant contributions to the Syracuse football team in the upcoming 2024 season.

At the forefront is Fadil Diggs, a four-star edge player who chose to transfer to Syracuse after his junior year at Texas A&M, a member of the Southeastern Conference. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 260 pounds, Diggs is expected to be a defensive leader for Syracuse in his senior year.

Diggs’ impressive national transfer rankings this off-season include being ranked 56th overall and 7th in edge players by 247Sports, and 69th overall and 9th in edge players by On3 Industry Ranking.

Brad Crawford, an analyst from 247Sports, recently rated Diggs as the 38th most impactful transfer for the upcoming 2024 season, highlighting his prowess as a pass rusher and his potential to make a significant impact in the ACC.

Despite not being listed among the top 50 most impactful transfers by Crawford, Kyle McCord will have ample opportunities to showcase his skills on the field for Syracuse.

In his junior season at Texas A&M, Diggs recorded 36 total tackles, 22 solo tackles, four sacks, and two defended passes. He was highly regarded as a high school recruit in the 2020 cycle and earned four-star ratings from several recruiting websites. Diggs, a former Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey, attended Woodrow Wilson High School, now known as Eastside High School.

Both Coach Brown and Elijah Robinson, the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Syracuse, also hail from Camden, New Jersey, as do several other Syracuse coaches.

Diggs’ younger brother, Fatim Diggs, is set to join Syracuse as a three-star linebacker in 2024, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 215 pounds, also from Eastside High School.

As of the writing of this story, the Syracuse football 2024 class from the transfer portal ranked 9th nationally according to On3, and 24th overall according to 247Sports.
