Kansas State Wildcats land coveted commitment of their top experienced star

The Kansas State men’s basketball team had a successful week with two significant additions to their roster. They acquired junior-college transfer Chimobi Ikegwuruka followed by securing a commitment from Samford big man Achor Achor.

This boosts the Wildcats’ scholarship players to 11 for the upcoming 2024-25 season, significantly enhancing their talent and depth compared to earlier this month.

Achor Achor, a 6-foot-9 forward from Melbourne, Australia, is one of the highest-rated transfers the Wildcats have landed this recruiting cycle. With impressive stats from his time at Samford, including averaging 16.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, Achor brings both skill and experience to the team. Notably, his performance against the Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA Tournament demonstrated his impact, despite the Bulldogs’ narrow loss.

Considered one of the top remaining players in the transfer portal, Achor’s late addition is a boon for a Wildcats team in need of front-court talent and experience. Projections suggest his inclusion will significantly improve the team’s standing, elevating them to a top 25 portal class.

The offseason has been busy for coach Jerome Tang and the Wildcats, who faced significant turnover from last year’s roster. However, with the addition of Achor and other transfers like Ikegwuruka, they’re poised for a competitive season alongside incoming high school recruit David Castillo.
