Indiana women’s basketball standout Sara Scalia has announced her move to Italy to kickstart her professional journey, as revealed on social media. She has inked a deal with Magnolia Campobasso in Campobasso, Italy, marking the beginning of her professional career for the forthcoming 2024-25 season.
Despite her remarkable prowess as one of the country’s top 3-point shooters, the 5-foot-10 guard went unselected in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Scalia, who shattered Indiana University’s single-season record with 103 successful 3-pointers and a 42.7 percent accuracy from beyond the arc, received All-Big Ten First Team recognition, joining former IU standout Mackenzie Holmes.
Holmes, chosen as the 26th overall pick in the WNBA Draft, continued IU’s streak of three consecutive years with a draft selection. While Scalia had been featured in various mock drafts leading up to the event, she ultimately remained undrafted and did not participate in WNBA training camps.

Recent updates from IU media relations confirm that Sara Scalia, the former IU guard who was overlooked in April’s WNBA draft, has secured a professional contract to compete in Italy.
