The star that came: UNC Lands a blockbuster commitment of a prolific star to bolster their corps of players

According to 247Sports, the addition of Belmont’s Cade Tyson is poised to make an immediate impact on the UNC basketball team.

Various Atlantic Coast Conference schools have bolstered their rosters through the transfer portal during this offseason.

As of now, 247Sports has compiled a list of the top transfers in ACC basketball for the upcoming season, with UNC’s acquisition of Cade Tyson securing the top position.

Cade Tyson, who transferred from Belmont, claimed the coveted spot due to his reputation as one of the finest shooters available. Tyson was a primary target for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program during the transfer period, sought after for his exceptional shooting prowess.

During the previous season, Tyson proved to be an offensive force, averaging 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Notably, he ranked second nationally for three-point shooting percentage, based on NCAA metrics for the 2023-2024 season.

Tyson appears to be a perfect match for the UNC basketball program, offering elite shooting to compensate for the departure of Cormac Ryan. His addition also introduces another dependable scoring option, essential as the Tar Heels prepare to bid farewell to three of their five starters from the previous season.

Anticipation runs high for Cade Tyson’s debut with the UNC basketball team, with 247Sports touting him as the ACC’s top transfer this offseason. While the Tar Heels have so far secured only one transfer (with potentially more to come), Tyson’s arrival is deemed significant due to his potential contributions in the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
