Commitment: Dolphins lands a top blockbuster deal of a prolific star to bolster their corps of player

You might think that the Raiders would focus on other positions after signing one defensive lineman from the Dolphins, especially with talents like Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins on the roster. Prioritizing needs like the secondary would seem logical.

However, ESPN has a different perspective in their recent NFL piece titled “Best NFL team fits for remaining free agents, trade candidates.” They discuss intriguing free agents and assign them to teams, resembling a Madden-style approach.

Raiders are a ‘best fit’ to land another former Dolphins defensive starter

Surprisingly, they overlook sending any of the major cornerback free agents – Stephon Gilmore, Xavien Howard, and Steven Nelson – to Vegas, which is disappointing. Nonetheless, ESPN doesn’t entirely overlook the Raiders, as they suggest Vegas acquiring another Dolphins defensive lineman: Emmanuel Ogbah.

The article acknowledges Maxx Crosby’s prowess and sees promise in Malcolm Koonce as an emerging talent, giving the Raiders a solid edge defense alongside newly acquired Christian Wilkins. However, they suggest adding Ogbah as a rotational pass-rusher, emphasizing the importance of depth in pressuring quarterbacks, particularly in a division with Patrick Mahomes.

While it’s true that the Raiders have notable talent on the defensive line, the depth at edge is questionable. Although there’s no mention of Tyree Wilson, whose rookie season showcased potential with 3.5 sacks despite no starts, it’s acknowledged that Ogbah would be a sensible addition, especially considering his familiarity with Wilkins.

On the contrary, some may argue that the focus should be on addressing the secondary, especially with Gilmore available.
