Officially signed: Texas Tech Raiders lands a top commitment of a prolific star to bolster their corps of defense

Texas Tech’s head coach Grant McCasland has made it official: Christian Anderson Jr. is joining the Red Raiders next season on an Athletic Scholarship Agreement. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Anderson, a freshman-to-be for the 2024-25 season, comes with an impressive resume.

Last year, he showcased his skills at Oak Hill Academy, averaging 19.1 points and 4.6 assists per game while also receiving a McDonald’s All-American nomination.

Standing at 6-foot-1, Anderson is highly regarded, earning four-star status from 247Sports and three-star ratings from ESPN and Rivals. His basketball journey includes stints at The Lovett School in Georgia before concluding at Oak Hill. Known for his sharpshooting, Anderson boasted a 45.2 percent accuracy from beyond the arc in his final high school season. Initially committed to Michigan, he also gained experience in elite circuits like the Nike EYBL and represented Germany on the international stage.

Anderson expressed excitement about joining Texas Tech, citing its strong culture and coaching staff as pivotal factors in his decision. Ranked 101st overall in the 2024 recruiting class by 247Sports, Anderson was a highly sought-after prospect, considering offers from several top programs and professional opportunities.

His basketball prowess extends beyond the United States; Anderson’s international experience with Germany includes standout performances in FIBA competitions, earning accolades such as MVP of the FIBA U16 European Championship.

Joining the Red Raiders, Anderson becomes part of an impressive recruiting class that includes Leon Horner III, Elijah Hawkins, Federiko Federiko, and Kevin Overton. This recruitment drive follows a successful season for Texas Tech, where they secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament under McCasland’s leadership, finishing with a 23-11 overall record.
