Tar heels lands top commitment of a prolific star, to bolster their corps of players

Megan Smith Lyon, the head coach of North Carolina softball, announced on Tuesday that Grace Jackson has joined the team after signing as a graduate transfer from Princeton. Jackson, hailing from Berwyn, Pa., will utilize her final year of eligibility with the Tar Heels in the upcoming season.

During her time at Princeton, Jackson showcased her skills as a standout infielder, earning recognition as a two-time All-Ivy League selection while serving as the team’s starting shortstop in 2022 and 2023.

Over the course of her Princeton career, she accumulated impressive statistics, making 143 starts with a .269 batting average. Her contributions included 100 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, 27 stolen bases, and 47 walks across three full seasons.

Jackson played a pivotal role in Princeton’s success, securing three Ivy League Championships and participating in two NCAA tournament appearances. This season, she notably contributed to Princeton’s first NCAA victory since 2005, earning a spot on the All-Ivy League Tournament team earlier this month.

Additionally, Jackson is set to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs.
