When Virginia Tech starts their ACC campaign against Miami in September, they’ll confront a trio of skilled receivers from the Hurricanes. Xavier Restrepo, leading the pack, showcased his prowess by snagging 85 passes last year for 1,092 yards and six touchdowns, three of which were in conference matchups. Known for his exceptional speed, Restrepo poses a significant threat on the field.
Following closely is Jacolby George, ranked ninth, who demonstrated his ability with 57 receptions totaling 864 yards and eight touchdowns in South Florida’s previous season, averaging an impressive 15.2 yards per catch.
Rounding off Miami’s lineup is transfer Samuel Brown, formerly of Houston, who amassed 815 yards on 62 receptions with three touchdowns for the Cougars last season. Brown’s addition to Miami’s roster provides Coach Mario Cristobal with another dynamic option in the passing game.
In their subsequent game on October 5th, Virginia Tech faces Eric Ayomanor of Stanford, ranked fifth, who racked up 1,013 yards on 62 catches with six touchdowns in the previous season. Ayomanor’s standout moment was a breathtaking 97-yard touchdown reception against Colorado, a pivotal play in Stanford’s double-overtime victory.
Virginia Tech’s schedule for 2024 also includes Notre Dame transfer Chris Tyree, who will take the field against Virginia during Thanksgiving Weekend. Tyree, having tallied 26 receptions for 484 yards and three touchdowns last season, will likely play a pivotal role in the Cavaliers’ offensive strategy.
