Approved in: Indiana Hoosiers Transfer lands commitment of a prolific star, with another team

Last week, the Indiana University program secured another transfer for 2024 as Ebon Person accepted a preferred walk-on offer from the Hoosiers. Person, a 6-foot-2, 228-pound edge/linebacker hailing from Division III Anderson University, discussed his decision to continue his college football journey at Indiana with Peegs.com.

Expressing his excitement, Person shared that becoming a Big Ten player at Indiana has been a long-held dream. “It’s a dream come true, and when the opportunity opened, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that I can go in and compete and give it my all,” he remarked.

“It’s always been a dream to be able to compete and put in the work at the highest level, and what better place to do then for your home state school. The culture they have seems to be something you want to be a part of.”

Throughout his interactions with the IU staff, Person observed their fervor and commitment to the football program’s success. “From what I’ve seen and heard, their level of dedication to winning will be what makes this group special,” he noted. “This staff will not let their players not be great, and they seem to coach with a different level of passion.”

Person, who excelled at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne before starting his college career at Anderson, emphasized the valuable experiences gained during his time with the Ravens. “My football journey has been crazy, but playing at a lower level made me very grateful and want to work even harder to reach my goals,

” he reflected. “I made a lot of great progress as a football player and as a man, and playing at those lower levels makes you really love football because there is no type of scholarship or money, and it makes you appreciate every little thing.”

For Person, the opportunity to play football for the Hoosiers holds significant importance for his family as well. “My family has been behind me every step of this journey,” he shared. “I’m going to go in there with the mindset that I can compete with anybody and make my family proud. It was a very big moment for me and my family.”

During his time at Anderson, Person accumulated 53 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass break-up, and one fumble recovery in 18 games. With two seasons of eligibility remaining and a redshirt year, he looks forward to making an impact at Indiana.
