Arizona wildcats transfer land another commitment of major contender with another team

Arizona Football continues to enhance its 2024 roster, securing a commitment from Shancco Matautia, a former offensive lineman for both New Mexico and Arizona State. Amidst a flurry of activity during their recent recruiting weekend, the Wildcats have welcomed Matautia to their ranks.

Hailing from Anaheim, Matautia reunites with his former head coach Danny Gonzales in Tucson, alongside former Servite teammates. His decision to transfer initially came in December after Gonzales departed from New Mexico, followed by a brief stint at Arizona State before opting for another transfer.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-2 and 346 pounds, Matautia brings immediate depth to Arizona’s offensive line, addressing a need identified after the spring season. With recent additions like Michael Wooten from Oregon and Jonah Rodriguez from San Diego State, the Wildcats have bolstered their line considerably, promising a robust unit for the upcoming season.

Matautia’s track record of starting in 20 games for the Lobos, coupled with a commendable PFF pass-blocking grade of 72.3, underscores his value as an experienced interior lineman. His size, strength, and seasoned play are anticipated to significantly benefit Arizona’s team dynamics.

In summary, Matautia’s arrival in Tucson is eagerly anticipated, with expectations high for his contributions to the Wildcats’ football program.
