Virginia tech transfer land another commitment of major superstar contender with another team

Megan Duffy has brought a breath of fresh air to the public relations of Virginia Tech Basketball in the New River Valley. She’s implemented changes during the offseason, injecting some fun into staff photo sessions and assembling a top-notch team of assistants who share her vision for revamping the team’s image.

However, reshaping the program goes beyond just improving its image and PR presence. It’s crucial for the new coaching staff to succeed in recruiting, and Duffy seems to be doing just that by quickly securing commitments from promising players for the future. Notable additions include Lani White, Kathleen Doyle, Kayl Petersen, Leila Wells, and the retention of recruit Myah Hazelton.

Duffy’s successes in recruiting have been complemented by key decisions from existing players like Rose Micheaux, Karleigh Wenzel, Matilda Ekh, and Carys Baker, who have opted to remain with the team in Blacksburg. These players will provide essential continuity and institutional knowledge for both the new coaching staff and incoming players.

Well, no one can say that Megan Duffy didn’t hit the road in a full sprint. She filled her assistant staff in record time and started pulling in recruits almost immediately. Kate Sears is a super, very local get and looks to push the Hokies new look to great heights. GO HOKIES!!!

Despite these accomplishments, Duffy is not resting on her laurels. The recent commitment from Kate Sears, a junior at Watauga High School in Boone, North Carolina, is a significant development. While it’s a long-term commitment, her addition lays a foundation for the 2026 season and beyond, potentially shaping the team’s trajectory into 2030.

A warm welcome to Kate Sears from Hokie Nation for the upcoming season. The future looks exceedingly bright for the rejuvenated Hokie Women’s Basketball Team under Duffy’s leadership.
