Pelicans confirmed another Departure of a talented star

An NBA analyst has suggested a trade scenario involving the Atlanta Hawks sending Trae Young to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Brandon Ingram during the upcoming offseason. Sources from Hoops Wire indicate that there is potential for such trades to happen.

According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Ingram, who boasts an All-Star recognition and a Most Improved Player award, presents an intriguing option despite his injury history and contract situation. The Pelicans, in need of a new playmaker, are reportedly considering trading him. A swap between Young and Ingram could offer both teams an opportunity to unlock untapped potential in their respective players.

Young, known for his scoring and playmaking abilities, had an impressive season averaging 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 10.8 assists per game. Ingram, who began his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, posted solid numbers with averages of 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game this season.

While the Hawks failed to reach the playoffs, the Pelicans were swept in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Young recently signed a lucrative extension with the Hawks, while Ingram is heading into the final year of his contract.

Assessing Young’s trade value is complex due to his skillset and limitations, as described by Buckley. Despite being a three-time All-Star, Young’s defensive shortcomings and ball-dominant style could impact his perceived value. A trade involving him might not necessarily focus on picks or prospects but could instead involve acquiring a similarly divisive player.
