Huge boost: Oregon state transfer land a prolific star commitment with another team

On Wednesday, Oregon State, under the leadership of Scott Rueck, welcomed Danish center Elisa Mehyar to their roster, marking another international addition for the team.

Mehyar brings with her a wealth of experience, having played for SISU Copenhagen and represented Denmark’s U18 team at the 2022 European Championships. She will enter her freshman year for the 2024-25 season.

Coach Rueck expressed his excitement about Mehyar joining the Beavers, praising her as an exceptional defender and shot-blocker with strong instincts. He highlighted her agility, speed on the court, and ability to finish around the rim, noting her seamless fit into the team’s culture.

Mehyar herself cited Oregon State as the ideal environment for her growth both as a player and as an individual, emphasizing the welcoming atmosphere created by Coach Rueck and his staff.

Mehyar’s prowess on the court is evident from her performance with the Danish U18 team, where she averaged 6.9 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game and showcased her shot-blocking skills, including a standout game against Romania with five blocks.

Additionally, her contributions to SISU Copenhagen underscore her versatility, as she ranked among the top rebounders and shot-blockers while maintaining a solid field goal percentage.

Joining the likes of previous successful European centers at Oregon State such as Marie Gulich, Jelena Mitrovic, and Joanna Grymek, Mehyar adds depth and talent to the Beavers’ lineup for the upcoming season.
