Greetings, Beaver Nation! Over the years, I’ve authored over 1,300 articles here at Building The Dam, capturing the diverse spectrum of Oregon State athletics – the triumphs, the tribulations, and the quirky moments that make our journey unique. However, come June 15th of this year, everything changes.
Recently, the higher-ups at Building The Dam informed me that our contracts won’t be renewed, signaling the end of BTD as we know it. I extend my sincerest apologies to all of you; your passion and engagement have made BTD a truly special online community. Yet, in the current landscape, financial considerations often overshadow what truly matters. It’s a reminder of the value of cherished spaces like BTD.
When I joined as co-manager in June 2016, the site’s traffic was minimal. Alongside my fellow co-manager Marcus, we revitalized BTD, cultivating a vibrant community and documenting unforgettable moments in Oregon State’s history, from the 2018 World Series win to the men’s basketball team’s improbable run to the 2021 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. These moments fueled us through the challenges.

As we witness the changing landscape of the Pac-12 and usher in a new era for Oregon State, perhaps it’s fitting to bid farewell. Beaver Nation, stay true to your quirky, passionate selves. Who knows, our paths may cross again someday. It’s been an honor serving you for what feels like a blink of an eye, yet spans eight years.
