Breaking: Former Dolphins Superstar Commit With Baltimore Orioles

Last season, the Baltimore Orioles faced pitching challenges, yet they managed to achieve their sixth 100-win season in their 124-year franchise history despite lacking depth. This year, their performance has been even more impressive, boasting a win rate of 66.1% in MLB games so far.

However, pitching remains a concern, particularly with the recent loss of both John Means and Tyler Wells to season-ending surgeries. Although the Orioles currently rank third in the American League with a commendable staff ERA of 3.32, the absence of two-fifths of their starting rotation could impact their ability to maintain this level of success.

It’s therefore unsurprising that USA Today’s MLB insider Bob Nightengale has linked the Orioles to Miami’s Jesus Luzardo, who is considered one of the top pitchers available for trade. Nightengale suggests that Luzardo could be an ideal fit for the Orioles, given their need for pitching reinforcements.

With four prospects ranked in MLB’s top 100 list, the Orioles possess the necessary trade assets to negotiate with Miami for Luzardo. Adding the 26-year-old left-handed starter to their rotation would significantly bolster their pitching staff. Despite not yet making an All-Star appearance, Luzardo has proven himself as a highly capable pitcher, posting a 3.59 ERA over the past three seasons in 59 starts.

Moreover, Luzardo is under team control until 2027 and is currently earning a reasonable salary of $5.5 million this season. However, his extended contract and promising performance make him a valuable asset for Miami, potentially making negotiations challenging for the Orioles, especially if other teams express interest.
