Following some initial backlash regarding his quarterback rankings, C.J. Stroud has adjusted his assessment of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
The Houston Texans quarterback stirred controversy by initially excluding Allen from his list of the NFL’s top five quarterbacks. However, he later revised his rankings, replacing Allen with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Stroud’s original rankings were unveiled in a teaser for his appearance on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, where he ranked himself above established quarterbacks and initially left out Allen. He later corrected this on social media.
In his podcast appearance, Stroud named Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, himself, Dak Prescott, and Hurts as the top quarterbacks. This garnered attention, particularly for omitting Allen and Joe Burrow. He later updated his Instagram stories, placing Allen at fourth, moving Prescott to fifth, and excluding Hurts. He also mentioned Burrow as a top quarterback but noted his injury in the 2023 season.

This isn’t the first time Allen’s rankings have sparked discussion this offseason. Former Bills safety Jordan Poyer praised Allen as the league’s best quarterback at a charity event, attracting attention despite now playing for the Miami Dolphins.
Stroud, who had an impressive rookie season with the Texans, will face Allen in the upcoming season. Their teams meet in Week 5, with wide receiver Stefon Diggs, now with the Texans, facing his former team, the Bills. Despite Diggs’ declining productivity, the Texans expect him to contribute alongside Tank Dell and Nico Collins, forming a strong receiving trio.
