Eric Ward Appointed as Lubbock Estacado Head Football Coach
Returning to his roots, Eric Ward, a standout wide receiver during the modern era of Texas Tech football, has been named the new head coach for Estacado High School. Ward, known for his prowess from 2010 to 2013 with the Red Raiders, was unveiled on Thursday for his role at Estacado, marking his debut as a head coach.
Formerly, Ward held the position of offensive coordinator at Wichita Falls City View in the 3A Division II league.
Expressing his joy at the return, Ward emphasized his deep connection to Lubbock, considering it home after spending significant years there. Grateful for the opportunity, Ward sees his new role as a calling to serve and nurture the youth on the east side of Lubbock, instilling a sense of pride in the program.
During his time with the Red Raiders, Ward left an indelible mark, amassing impressive statistics of 255 catches for 2,863 yards and 31 touchdowns. His achievements rank him among the top performers in Texas Tech’s history, holding the third position in career receptions and touchdowns, and sixth in total yards.
