Breaking: Brent Pry Reveals Clear Message in-state recruits, it’s Coming big Again

Brent Pry continues to strike it big recruiting in the state of Virginia with five of his six Class of 2025 commits so far coming from the Commonwealth

When Brent Pry took over as the new football coach at Virginia Tech, it was clear that he was facing a challenging situation left behind by his predecessor, Justin Fuente. In just two seasons, the team’s performance has seen a significant improvement, moving from a 3-8 record in the first year to a 7-6 record in the second, with a strong finish of six wins in their final nine games. With several key players staying on board, there’s a sense of high anticipation for the upcoming 2024 season.

While Pry has been achieving notable progress on the field, he’s also been addressing a crucial issue off the field, particularly in the realm of recruiting within the state of Virginia. Coming from his previous role as defensive coordinator at Penn State, Pry had to mend relationships with local high school coaches and work towards retaining talented players within the state.

His efforts seem to be paying off as the Hokies have secured commitments from six players for the Class of 2025, including Sheldon Robinson, a three-star safety who chose Virginia Tech over other options like Virginia. Robinson joins four other recruits from Virginia, highlighting Pry’s success in attracting local talent to Blacksburg.

Pry’s focus on recruiting in Virginia marks a significant step forward for the program, aiming to prevent top players from leaving the state for out-of-state schools. This emphasis on retaining local talent is crucial for the long-term rebuilding of the team in Blacksburg.

Shawn Quinn, the Hokies’ Stars/Nickel coach, has also played a key role in recruiting within the state, further reinforcing the message that staying close to home is a promising option for aspiring players. Overall, Pry’s efforts are sending a strong message to recruits in Virginia: Virginia Tech is a compelling choice for those looking to make an impact in their home state.
