Another day brings another addition to the roster for South Carolina football. Chris Hatfield, a versatile player from Long County, Georgia, has declared his commitment to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. This marks USC’s ninth verbal commitment for the Class of 2025. Hatfield has been actively involved with USC, having visited the campus three times in recent months, including an official visit over the weekend.
Opting for South Carolina over options like West Virginia and Toledo, Hatfield highlighted the allure of playing in the SEC, renowned for its tough competition week after week. Speaking to Phil Kornblut of SportsTalk, Hatfield expressed excitement about the prospect of playing in the SEC and under Coach Gray, who sees potential in utilizing his physical attributes, aiming for a shot at becoming a Freshman All-American.
Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, Hatfield is ranked as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. In the previous season, he showcased his skills with 19 tackles, three interceptions, and four touchdown receptions.
Hatfield’s commitment comes in the wake of a successful official visitors weekend hosted by the Gamecocks, marking the third commitment since Saturday. While there are still three commitments awaiting official confirmation, head coach Shane Beamer has been actively announcing new additions, with another announcement made on Tuesday.
