Former Rutgers Football head coach Chris Ash is making a transition to the NFL, assuming a new position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As reported by Jordan Shipley of Jaguar Nation, Ash, who served as the safeties coach for the Jaguars during the 2021 season, is now shifting to a role within their personnel department.
Rutgers fans are likely familiar with Ash’s tenure in Piscataway. He led the Scarlet Knights for slightly over three years starting in 2016 before being relieved of his duties four games into the 2019 season. During his time at Rutgers, Ash accumulated a record of 8-32 overall and 3-26 in Big Ten conference play.
Before joining Rutgers, Ash held the position of defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Ohio State for two years. Following his departure from Rutgers, he remained in college football, spending two years on the coaching staff at Texas, where he also served as the defensive coordinator in 2020.

Transitioning to the NFL, Ash spent a season with the Jaguars before becoming the defensive backs coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he was not retained by the Raiders’ new head coach, Antonio Pierce.
Now, Ash is returning to Jacksonville to take on a scouting role within the organization.
