One of the best: Oregon State lands commitment of an Experienced Star

Oregon State added another international player to their women’s basketball team on Tuesday with the signing of Spanish wing Cloe Vecina.

Vecina arrives in Corvallis from Celta Baloncesto Femenino and has previously played three games with Celta Zorka in the Spanish senior league. Despite being a freshman, she brings valuable experience to the team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cloe Vecina to the Beaver family,” said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. “She is a versatile combo guard with the ability to excel both on and off the ball. Cloe’s exceptional court vision and shooting prowess make her an exciting addition to our roster.”

Vecina explained her decision to choose Oregon State, stating, “I selected Oregon State because it offers the ideal environment for my growth and development, both as a basketball player and as an individual. The welcoming atmosphere and support from Coach Rueck and his staff made me feel like part of the family right away.”

Recently named to the Spanish U18 national team, Vecina is currently training for the 2024 U18 EuroBasket, where she aims to secure a spot on the final roster.

Vecina joins Lucia Navarro, a transfer from Florida State, as the second Spanish signee for Oregon State this offseason. With returners Susana Yepes and Kelsey Rees, Vecina becomes the team’s fourth international signee and sixth international player on the roster.
