Hawkeyes set to bolster 2025 roster with the signing another standout star

Iowa is the latest to offer the eight-man standout.

The 2027 class in Iowa appears promising, with standout athlete Landon Blum of Woodbine emerging as a top prospect. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 175 pounds, Blum excels in basketball but is likely destined for football, having received offers from Iowa and Iowa State in recent months.

Iowa extended its offer to Blum during the Hawkeye Tailgater event last Saturday, following their observation of him at a camp in Iowa City earlier in the week. Blum, who visited Iowa again over the weekend, expressed his enthusiasm for the Hawkeyes’ program, noting their appreciation for his team-oriented approach and his academic and athletic abilities.

During his freshman year, Blum showcased his skills on the football field with 50 catches for 839 yards and 17 touchdowns in the eight-man division. On the basketball court, he averaged 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last winter at Woodbine, demonstrating his athleticism with a reported 42-inch vertical jump.

Landon Blum Reacts to Iowa Football Offer

While Iowa views Blum as a wide receiver prospect initially, there is speculation he might transition to tight end as he continues to develop physically. Blum particularly appreciates Iowa’s offensive setup under coach Jon Budmayr and is eager to see how they perform under new offensive coordinator Tim Lester this season.

Blum has attracted interest from a wide range of programs, including Nebraska, Kansas State, Georgia, Oklahoma, and others, with several planning camps and expressing strong interest in his abilities.

In June alone, Iowa has extended offers to three class of 2027 prospects, including Blum, showcasing their proactive approach to recruiting emerging talent like him.
