Iowa State football hosted DB Saxton Suchanic for an OV last weekend, offering coach Hank Poteat and player host Cam Smith a great chance to impress the Pennsylvania corner
Iowa State football has been swiftly engaging with Saxton Suchanic, a cornerback from York, Pennsylvania, since offering him a scholarship in early May. Hank Poteat, the Cyclones’ cornerback coach, was the first to extend the scholarship to the 6-foot-3, 190-pound defensive back. Suchanic visited Iowa State a month later for an official visit, where he shared positive feedback about his experience on campus.
“It was fantastic,” Suchanic commented to Cyclone Alert regarding his visit. “The campus was enjoyable to explore, and there’s clearly a lot of exciting things happening there. It’s a beautiful place, and I really enjoyed my time.”
During his visit, Suchanic had the opportunity to tour Iowa State’s campus with Cam Smith, a defensive back for the Cyclones, who served as his host in Ames, Iowa.
“Spending time with the players was a highlight for me,” he added. “It was great to hang out with them and see how tight-knit they are as a team. The camaraderie and culture they have there are impressive.”
Reflecting on his experience with Smith as his host, Suchanic said, “Cam Smith showed me around, and honestly, we just hung out at the apartments with the guys, played video games, and did normal stuff like that. But it was really enjoyable. You can tell they’re all really close.”
