Patrick McMath, an offensive lineman from Katy, Texas is the latest Texas Tech football commit for the class of 2025.
Since arriving in Lubbock, Texas Tech football head coach Joey McGuire has focused on bolstering his team’s offensive line by recruiting talent from high schools. His efforts have paid off with the commitment of 3-star prospect Patrick McMath from Katy, Texas, for the class of 2025.
McMath, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 255 pounds, is ranked as the No. 1241 player nationally and the No. 91 interior offensive lineman by 247Sports.com. He also holds the distinction of being the No. 191 player in Texas according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
This commitment marks Texas Tech’s first offensive lineman recruit in the current recruiting cycle. McMath had received offers from several Big 12 programs including Arizona, Baylor, BYU, and Houston, as well as other schools from different conferences.
Texas Tech has faced challenges in establishing a strong offensive line in recent years. Previous coaching staffs under Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Wells struggled to replenish this crucial position group adequately. McGuire and his team are now working diligently to assemble a robust offensive line capable of competing effectively in the rigorous Big 12 conference each season.

For instance, this season, the program is set to field an offensive line with three former transfers likely to start. That includes two first-year transfers who the program will ask to be immediate starters.
What’s more, during the McGuire era, the program has added eight offensive linemen via the portal. That’s an average of four per class, a sign that McGuire has been searching for answers at that position group since the moment he arrived.
What’s more, of this year’s two-deep rotation, tackles Caleb Rogers and Sterling Porcher, as well as guards Vinny Sciury and Davior Carter will all be seniors in 2025. Therefore, the Red Raiders will have plenty of roles to fill up front next season.
After a couple of 2025 players decommitted from the Red Raiders on Sunday, Tech’s 2025 recruiting class sits at No. 14 commits. It is still ranked No. 25 in the nation according to 247Sports.
