Gerry Glasco has decided to accept the offer from Texas Tech to become their next head softball coach, marking his departure from the University of Louisiana (UL).
Glasco’s move comes shortly after UL pitching coach Justin Robichaux left to take on the head baseball coach role at St. Thomas More. Among the remaining full-time staff at UL are Shellie Landry and Hunter Veach, both originally hired by Glasco. Interestingly, Landry previously served as interim head coach after Michael Lotief’s dismissal in 2017.
Glasco’s decision follows Baylor’s elimination of UL in the NCAA Lafayette regional finals a month ago. It’s expected that Rounding Third Softball will confirm Glasco’s appointment as Texas Tech’s new softball coach by Thursday.
During his seven-year tenure at UL, Glasco amassed a record of 302-88, including a 45-19 overall record and 22-2 in Sun Belt play this past season. Under his leadership, UL reached the super regionals in 2023 and hosted a regional in 2024, narrowly missing a return to the super regionals.
At Texas Tech, Glasco inherits a program that went 60-43 over the past two seasons under Craig Snider, who recently departed for Tennessee. The team posted a 29-21 record this spring.
With Glasco’s departure, UL’s players now have a 30-day window to explore the transfer portal, following the recent closure of the transfer portal earlier this week.
