Three major Yankees Stars are gone

The New York Yankees have recently faced a string of injuries that have notably impacted their infield. One of the most significant losses was Gleyber Torres, who suffered a right groin injury last Thursday. With Torres sidelined, Oswaldo Cabrera is expected to step up at second base, showcasing his versatility.

Despite Torres’s struggles this season, which include a .221 batting average, seven home runs, and an 87 wRC+ (weighted runs created plus), his absence represents a notable setback for the team. Torres, who is approaching free agency, faces uncertainty regarding his future with the Yankees and his market value. His defensive challenges, including a .962 fielding percentage and 11 errors, have also been highlighted during this period.

The Yankees, while navigating these injuries in their infield, are likely to rely on depth and adjustments to mitigate the impact as they progress through the season.

The New York Yankees are grappling with a series of injuries that extend beyond Gleyber Torres. Anthony Rizzo, a key player, has been sidelined with a fracture in his right arm, expected to keep him out for six to eight weeks. Rizzo’s absence is particularly significant due to his leadership and experience on the team, although rookie Ben Rice has impressed with his offensive contributions. Depending on Rice’s continued performance, he may retain a starting role even after Rizzo returns.

In addition to Rizzo, Jon Berti, acquired from the Miami Marlins, is also on the 60-day injured list. Berti’s absence is felt, especially at third base, where his speed and ability to capitalize on the base paths are valued. His potential return in early August could provide a much-needed boost to the team as they navigate through these challenges in the infield.
