Bills HC Sean McDermott turns head, warns NFL on the 35 year old Bills rusher

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott maintains strong confidence in 35-year-old edge rusher Von Miller’s potential despite his recovery from a significant knee injury. McDermott recently shared that Miller has not fully recuperated from the torn ACL he suffered on Thanksgiving Day 2022, but he remains optimistic about Miller’s prospects for the 2024 season.

“In the first year off an ACL, it’s always an uphill climb,” McDermott remarked during a discussion on former Bills center Eric Wood’s podcast. “Now, as we head into the second year post-injury, I’m eager to see his progress, how he moves, and how he’ll impact our team. You can never underestimate a player or a person like Von Miller.”

Buffalo invested significantly in Miller, signing him to a six-year, $120 million contract in March 2022. Initially, the eight-time Pro Bowler showed promise with eight sacks and one forced fumble in 12 weeks before his injury.

Miller faced challenges in 2023, starting the year on the reserve/PUP list and struggling upon his return in October, recording only three tackles and no sacks. As he enters his 14th season in the league, skepticism about Miller’s future performance has arisen, but McDermott remains steadfast in his belief.

“While some may point to age and injury concerns, we’re talking about a future Hall of Famer,” McDermott emphasized. “He possesses an exceptional mindset and a desire to prove himself. We’re excited to see how things unfold over the next few months.”

McDermott’s optimism underscores the team’s hope for Miller’s resurgence and his potential to make a significant impact moving forward.
