Isaiah Gibson, a highly regarded four-star defensive end ranked 28th in the 2025 ESPN 300, made his commitment to Georgia official on Monday. This decision came six days after he withdrew his commitment from USC’s recruiting class under Lincoln Riley.
According to ESPN, Gibson holds the third spot among defensive ends in the 2025 class. Standing at 6-foot-4, he hails from Warner Robins, Georgia, and had initially committed to USC on March 24 before changing his commitment last Tuesday. His pledge marks the 12th ESPN 300 recruit to commit to Georgia for 2025, making him the second-highest-rated addition to Kirby Smart’s roster, following in-state linebacker Zayden Walker (ranked 15th overall).
During his junior season last fall, Gibson recorded an impressive 17 sacks. After committing to USC, he undertook several visits this spring to schools including Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Ohio State. Following his decommitment from USC, he initially planned, then canceled, a visit to Oklahoma, opting instead to split his time between visits to Ohio State and Georgia.
Gibson’s commitment further strengthens Georgia’s recruiting class, which was ranked 13th by ESPN in their latest team rankings for the 2025 cycle.
He joins a formidable defensive unit at Georgia, alongside other standout recruits like Zayden Walker (ranked 2nd among outside linebackers in 2025), Jadon Perlotte (ranked 9th among outside linebackers), Christian Garrett (ranked 8th among defensive tackles), Stephon Shivers (ranked 22nd among defensive tackles), and Darren Ikinnagbon (ranked 20th among edge rushers in 2025).
