By adding a commitment from Ren Brown, the Texas Tech football program has added to its numbers along the offensive line for the class of 2025.
Recently, the Texas Tech football program has experienced a surge in commitments, particularly in the offensive line for the 2025 recruiting class. Since June 18, Joey McGuire and his coaching staff have secured verbal pledges from four high school offensive linemen. The most recent addition, Ren Brown, made his decision public last Friday.
Brown, a 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle from Nebraska, is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com. He is ranked as the 11th best player in Nebraska and the 112th offensive tackle nationally according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Brown’s recruitment progressed swiftly. After receiving a scholarship offer from Texas Tech on May 17, he visited Lubbock last weekend for an official visit and promptly announced his commitment to join the Red Raiders.

Alongside interest from schools like Oregon State, Air Force, Army, and a recent offer from Kansas State, Brown’s commitment underscores Texas Tech’s appeal to top-tier linemen. With 16 commitments overall, Texas Tech’s 2025 recruiting class currently ranks 31st nationally.
Joining Brown are commitments from fellow offensive tackles Garin Maley (also from Nebraska) and Elias Gillen from South Dakota, as well as interior lineman Patrick McMath from Katy, Texas. With four linemen now committed, Texas Tech may have filled their quota for high school recruits in this position group for the 2025 class.
Regardless, Texas Tech’s focused efforts on bolstering their offensive line through high school recruits reflect a strategic investment in future team strength.
