The Oregon Ducks have been experiencing a remarkable recruiting streak recently.
In the past month alone, they’ve secured commitments from seven recruits, four of whom, including two highly coveted five-star prospects, committed just within the last week.
On Monday, there was anticipation that the Ducks might add another five-star recruit to their roster when Linkon Cure, a standout tight end from Goodland (KS), announced his decision live on a 247Sports Livestream.
However, to Oregon’s disappointment, Cure chose to commit to the Kansas State Wildcats instead. When asked about his decision, Cure explained, “I love everything about Kansas State. The culture and the environment around the program were particularly appealing to me. The leadership and coaching staff at Kansas State are exceptional, and I have a lot of respect for what coach Chris Klieman has built there. It’s a great place to be.”
Cure’s commitment followed a series of official visits, including stops at Kansas on May 31, Texas A&M on June 7, Oregon on June 16, and Kansas State on June 21. These visits played a crucial role in his decision-making process.
Reflecting on his recruiting journey, Cure admitted, “The past year has been a roller coaster. It didn’t unfold exactly as I expected due to coaching changes and other factors. Despite the challenges, I enjoyed the process and remained true to my approach. Ultimately, the official visits helped me make a difficult decision.”
Rated as a five-star prospect, Cure is currently ranked as the No. 27 player nationally, the second-best tight end, and the second-best player in Kansas according to On3’s Industry Rankings.
