Shane Knobloch and Cassidy Spiles, standout stars of the Rutgers men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, were honored with the Big Ten Medal of Honor. This prestigious award recognizes one male and one female student-athlete from each Big Ten university’s graduating class who have demonstrated excellence both on and off the field throughout their college careers.
Notably, the award emphasizes academic accomplishments alongside athletic achievements, making it the conference’s most esteemed accolade.
Knobloch, a four-time All-American for the Scarlet Knights, showcased his prowess last season by leading the team with 29 goals and ranking second in assists with 11, totaling 40 points for the year. He also achieved five hat tricks and was drafted fourth overall, the highest selection ever for a Scarlet Knight, by the Carolina Chaos in the Premiere Lacrosse League.
Meanwhile, Spiles concluded her senior season as Rutgers’ all-time leader in career points (281), goals (262), and draw controls (313). Her remarkable achievements have solidified her legacy within the Rutgers lacrosse program.
Their receipt of the Big Ten Medal of Honor underscores their exceptional contributions to athletics and academics at Rutgers University, setting a high standard for student-athletes across the conference.
