The standout player from Syracuse Orange basketball over the last two seasons is moving on to join an NBA team that once called Syracuse home.
Despite not being selected in this year’s NBA Draft, Judah Mintz has signed a contract to play in the Summer League with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Mintz will find a familiar face in former Duke guard Jared McCain, who was drafted 16th overall by the Sixers. With one remaining two-way contract up for grabs, Mintz will need to impress in the upcoming weeks to secure it. Alternatively, he could opt for a one-year deal in the G-League with the Delaware team or explore tryouts with other NBA franchises.
During the Summer League, teams will play a minimum of eight games: three in Salt Lake City and at least five in Las Vegas. You can view Philly’s schedule here.
Last season, Mintz led Syracuse with averages of 18.8 points and 4.4 assists per game. He was also a significant contributor from the free throw line, making 202 out of 457 attempts, and earned All-ACC Second Team honors.
Mintz joins fellow Syracuse alumni and former Detroit Piston Buddy Boeheim in their quest to secure spots on NBA rosters. We wish all former Syracuse University players the best of luck this month.
