Former Louisiana Lafeyette infielder joins Gerry Glasco in Lubbock, the fourth Ragin’ Cajun to do so
The signing of Lauren Allred by Texas Tech softball is indeed impressive, given her stellar performance and accolades during her time at Louisiana. Allred, originally from Texarkana, made a significant impact in her freshman year, showcasing her batting prowess with a .375 average, 47 RBIs, and 12 home runs in 2023.
She received multiple honors, including being named to the 2023 All-Sun Belt First Team, the 2023 All-Louisiana First Team, and the 2023 NFCA All-Central Region Second Team. Her achievements also earned her recognition as the Sun Belt Player of the Week in April 2023.
Despite a shortened 2024 campaign, Allred’s statistics highlight her consistency and skill on the field, including a .985 fielding percentage and a team-high .721 slugging percentage in 2023. She demonstrated remarkable discipline at the plate, striking out only eight times in 136 at-bats, and led her team in on-base percentage with .469.
Off the field, Allred maintains an impressive academic record with a 3.9 GPA, underscoring her dedication both in academics and athletics. According to Gerry Glasco, her coach at Louisiana, Allred not only excels as a softball player but also thrives under pressure, performing exceptionally well against tough competition.
