USC transfer commit another devoted player from important position..

In the latest 2025 247Sports Top247 rankings released on Tuesday, USC’s recruiting class faced disappointing news. Julian Lewis, the quarterback commit for USC, experienced a notable drop from his previous five-star status to now being rated as a four-star prospect.

Originally positioned as the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 3 quarterback with a 98 rating, Lewis now holds the No. 46 spot overall and is ranked as the No. 7 quarterback with a rating of 94.

This decline follows Lewis’s participation in the Elite 11 competition last month, where he finished as the No. 7 quarterback in the final 247Sports rankings and earned recognition as the Pro Day Champion.

Known for his ability to distribute the football effectively and manipulate defenses with his vision rather than relying on standout physical attributes, Lewis has demonstrated a compact release that allows him to deliver accurate passes across all areas of the field.

Despite not possessing an elite arm strength, he excels in placing the ball strategically in deeper areas of coverage and showcases nimble movement both within and outside the pocket, extending plays with agility.

Lewis opted to skip his senior season by reclassifying and advancing a year, emphasizing his advanced skills and impressive 25-3 record over two seasons in Georgia’s highest high school football classification.

While his size may raise concerns among evaluators, Lewis’s exceptional intangibles solidify his standing as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting cycle, particularly suited for modern spread offenses that emphasize pace and tactical challenges to defenses.

Among other developments in USC’s recruiting class, cornerback Shamar Arnoux, a teammate of Lewis, saw a modest increase in his rating from 87 to 88, offering a slight bright spot amidst the adjustments. Linebacker Matai Tagoa’i and cornerback Trestin Castro, both four-star commits, maintained their rankings at No. 79 and saw slight fluctuations in their ratings, while defensive lineman Hayden Lowe experienced a minor drop in his ranking from No. 231 to No. 234, despite a small increase in his rating from 90 to 91.
