The Cincinnati Reds recently elevated two former Los Angeles Dodgers players, catcher Austin Wynns and infielder Edwin Ríos, to the major league roster. Both players had previously been with the Dodgers before making their return to MLB action over the past weekend.
Austin Wynns had a brief stint with the Dodgers during the 2023 season, appearing in five games and recording two hits. He also played for the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies in 2023, marking his fifth franchise. In Triple-A this year, Wynns has maintained a batting line of .250/.307/.404 with four home runs and 17 RBIs.
Edwin Ríos, drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2015 MLB Draft, spent 2019-2022 with the team. He was part of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series championship team and played in a total of 112 MLB games with the Dodgers, hitting 20 home runs and driving in 43 RBIs over parts of four seasons.
After his tenure with the Dodgers, Ríos played for the Chicago Cubs before joining the Reds. In Triple-A this season, he has batted .243/.340/.486 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs.
Since their return to the majors with the Reds, Wynns has recorded one hit, while Ríos has had one at-bat but has yet to record a hit or a walk.
