Most recently, the club finalized terms with Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, their top pick in the 2024 draft, on a three-year entry-level contract just 13 days after he was selected 15th overall. General Manager Steve Yzerman praised Brandsegg-Nygard’s well-rounded game and versatility, noting his ability to contribute in various roles and situations.

Dan Cleary, the Red Wings’ director of player development, emphasized Brandsegg-Nygard’s strength in puck protection and shooting skills, while acknowledging areas like skating that need improvement, which the player is dedicated to enhancing.

team next season, while others will contribute to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins or play internationally. Brandsegg-Nygard and defenseman Axel Sandin Pellikka are set to play together for Skelleftea in Sweden’s SHL during the 2024-25 campaign.
