Ike Boettger has signed with the Detroit Lions
According to Aaron Wilson’s report, the Detroit Lions have added offensive guard Ike Boettger to their roster. Boettger, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2018, has had multiple stints with different teams since then.
Initially signing with the Buffalo Bills on May 11, 2018, Boettger was waived on September 1, 2018, before rejoining the Bills after a brief period with the Kansas City Chiefs. He made his NFL debut with the Bills on December 2, 2018, against the Miami Dolphins.
In March 2021, Boettger received a restricted free agent tender from the Bills, which he signed on April 27. Despite a disrupted 2021 season due to COVID-19, he managed to secure the starting left guard position in Week 8 but suffered a torn Achilles in Week 16.

Boettger re-signed with the Bills on March 28, 2022, but started the season on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. He was activated from the list on December 19. The Bills re-signed him on March 3, 2023, but released him on August 29.
In addition to his time with the Bills, Boettger briefly joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 and later joined the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad in 2023, eventually moving to the active roster. He signed with the Colts on October 11, was released on October 31, and then re-signed to their practice squad. Boettger became a free agent after the season ended.
Joining the Detroit Lions represents a fresh start for Ike Boettger. The Lions are optimistic that his experience and ability to play multiple positions will strengthen their offensive line as they prepare for the upcoming season.
