Given the injury woes the Braves have faced in 2024, Jon Morosi’s latest update offers a glimmer of hope. The Braves are not anticipated to pursue a starting pitcher before the trade deadline, largely because they’re optimistic that Max Fried’s injury isn’t severe.
While the team has several issues to address in the coming days, the pitching staff—provided Max Fried can return—is not a major concern. The Braves have been exceptional in preventing runs, spearheaded by Max Fried, Chris Sale, and Reynaldo Lopez. Additionally, Spencer Schwellenbach has bolstered the rotation with his impressive 11-strikeout performance against the Mets.
The Braves are not expected to acquire an impact starter before Tuesday's deadline, in part because they believe Max Fried will return from the IL relatively soon.@MLBNetwork

However, the offense is another story and requires improvement in multiple areas. With Michael Harris sidelined for a few more weeks, there’s a strong case for acquiring at least three outfielders. The bench could use upgrades, and there are also concerns about the middle infield.
Orlando Arcia has been largely ineffective offensively this season, and with Ozzie Albies out for at least seven more weeks, top prospect Nacho Alvarez has yet to prove himself as a reliable everyday player in the majors. Although it’s early and things might change, some form of backup is essential. Expect the Braves to make several moves in the near future.
