Yzerman, Draper Visit Lions Training Camp
This morning, Red Wings executives Steve Yzerman and Kris Draper visited the Detroit Lions’ training camp in Allen Park, likely hoping to capture some of the positive energy from the reigning NFC North champions as the Red Wings aim to make a postseason return.
In keeping with hockey tradition, Draper skillfully avoided stepping on the Lions’ logo on the turf, sidestepping it with care.
The Red Wings have previously shown admiration for their local football team. Last year, Coach Derek Lalonde visited the Lions’ camp and praised Lions coach Dan Campbell for transforming the team’s culture from a long-time NFL underdog to a competitive force.
Steve Yzerman and Kris Draper were at camp today. Draper walked around the Lions logo on the turf and wouldn't step on it, because hockey players never change 😂

“I just love his energy,” Lalonde said of Campbell last summer. “We had a great conversation—discussed our seasons, reminisced about his playing days here when the Wings were also thriving. I often scold my kids for being on social media, but I end up searching for Dan Campbell quotes at 1 AM… it was a good laugh.”
Detroit fans will hope the Red Wings can mirror the success of their football counterparts, as the Lions look to build on their strong performance in last year’s NFC Championship Game.
